Default Dented my DC JDM Header :(( Should it hurt performance ? Pics Inside

Do you think that those dents will hurt performance ?

Shall I try to get it fixed ? or leave it as it is ?

I really doubt that would hurt performance. I've seen much worse. For the future, you should try to fabricate some sort of skid plate to protect that thing.

A skidplate would cause your ground clearance to be even less. Sure, trucks have skid plates, but they often have a chassis designed to support this type of fabrication. I suppose it all comes down to how you attach it to the underside of the vehicle.

To tell the truth the exhaust sound changed a bit. Its a little smoother now! but I cant tell
much if I felt the car differrent.

You are very correct! Not ALL European roads but. Ive been to UK, France and Sicily all of them have excellent roads but the situation in Malta is miserable. You cant even immagine what type of roads we drive in! Maybe sometime I will upload some pics!

I dont think it will help much in my case. With the skid plate on ground clearance would be worse as itrsport.com said. I think its better if I raise the car.

Or get a TODA 4-2-1.

Dutch roads are the best in Europe IMO. But there are many speed bumps.

When everyone says that it should not hurt, I just can't seem to understand that line of thought...

In this case two cylinders are being restricted, I can't see how that's Not hurting performance,,, I know its not bad, but if the tube is closed lets say 20% in one area that means those two cylinders are putting out less power, kinda like a bottle neck.

I bet if he were to do a A/F check on that motor 2 of the 4 would be different, and the power would be decreased while adding strain to them.

In my view/ opinion I would replace that header asap.

Why replace it, it will just get dented again. Leave the header as it is, the power you will be losing will probably be 2 hp. Why spend 300 dollars to gain 2 hp? I could think of other things to gain the horsepower lost for 300 dollars.

yea i have the same opinion. why even ask that question in the first place?..you dent a header, replace it!...and as far as a heatshield goes, i wouldnt weld a custom one on.

I had a DC JDM 4-1 on my last integra and dented it similar to yours, i then got two 1/4" steel plates welded onto it (one on each pipe) and had them bent upwards towards the top. I know it decreases ground clearance even more and i knocked the **** out of those things for 2 years after having them put on but they protected the pipe work underneath, and after all thats what skid plates are for...to take the abuse on crap roads (of which we have plenty)

It's not to hard to fix with a little patience and elbow grease.....

HT member 'Willard' has a thread on how he fixed the same kind of damage to a header as well. IM him or lookup his thread.
