Default All Motor setup???

I was wondering what people usually get when the go N/A??? Pistons, Rods, Cam Shafts, Cam gears, New throttle body, intake mani., and i/h/e. Anything else. I tried to do a search on it but all i got was engine rebuilding and stuff. Not what i want. Do i need new fuel pumps etc???? Also, if i did all of this stuff, is it like gettin the engine rebuilt. So if i did this, would my engine run like new again.

I was reading import tuner, and a 94 LS (which is what i have) only got 105whp. So if i did a rebuild, would i be able to get around 140whp??? Im hoping maybe even more!!

Sorry for the long post thanks for all of your help

Import Tuner sux!

also add port and polish, vavle job.

blueprinting is an option, but kinda seems ridiculous unless your going for a full race car

You could put a turbo on it and get 200+ whp..

I think I have somewhere in the 190-200 crank HP range on my LS, all motor. It costs a lot of money to make it, its cheaper to do a swap and mess with a VTEC motor.

I have

ITR pistons
port/polish
valve job
resurfaced head
crower dual valve springs
crower titanium retainers
skunk2 intake manifold
big bore TB
280cc injectors
AEM fuel rail
greddy headers
DC stainless exhaust
AEM CAI
ACT clutch
fluidline radaitor

also, isnt the DRAG 3 turbo kit illegal for street use???? This is more of a street car than drag car so i want to make sure that i am legal on the streets. I know for a fact that the kit isnt CARB exempt, but i live in OHIO so i dont really have to worry bout that.

So bassically to sum up this post, Is the DRAG 3 turbo kit legal in states other than Cali??? Thanks.

97blackteg: What times do you run, any actual dyno runs?

Nope, i have no clue at all. I have no mods on my car at all. I really would love to go turbo, but money is tight considering i am only 17. i am only expecting 100whp out of my car, cuz i kinda came up with my own rule of thumb. Take the hp that the manufacturer gives you, take away 40, and you have your wheel hp. I dont know if this is true, but it seems to work out.

you want the most horsepower, it'll take lots and lots of dyno tuning.
i've got a lot of tuning done but its still not perfect.

all the engine components you named (pistons, rods, cams, etc) are all necessary to get the most out of your na engine. but, i don't know that your goals are for your setup. with all these components, (assuming you want 12 to 13 et's) you will have to take fuel management into consideration as well (fpr, fuel pump, etc). with the pistons, rods, valves, valvesprings, retainers, p&p.

if you did a rebuild, you will more than likely get more than 140 whp. as for the import tuner issue with the ls that pumped out 105 hp that is way below average for a stock engine. if you read this issue again, you will see that they came to the conclusion that the piston rings were gone. with my ls engine with tanabe exhaust, injen intake, extrude honed intake manifold and balanced stock injectors, i pumped out 128 whp. but, it just depends on what your budget is and as someone stated before, if you want na power, it is better to use a vtec engine as a foundation as opposed to the ls engine
