Mine started to rust when it was about 12 years old and the black rubber around the edges started to crack but the motor worked fine and smoothly. I also looked at another CRX and its motor in the sunroof was dead after it being about 10 years old... So I dont know if they usually go bad...these are just my experiences

Mine still works pretty good but when you push the button to turn it on you have to push up the back part of the roof to help pull it up and THEN it slides back lol and sometimes my sunroof likes to stick into place and not move lol

there was a really good thread about the fact of the sunroofs "sticking" was because the switch is dirty on the inside, and the connection is weak. He basically described how to take the switch apart and clean it and put it back together, problem soved. They also stated that the trascks could be cleaned and greased.

No, they usually don't when properly maintained.
Most common problems are bad or dirty switches, un-lubricated tracks, clogged drain tubes, rust (CRX sunroof). Bad motors and broken slider parts are much less common but do occur.

well i'm going to have a std hatch right now and i just crazy over ef's and since i have some laying aside cash i thought i might buy this si from this guy i know and i don't know i want it because it came with more options and i just love sunroofs and since my std doesn't have one i wanted to make sure that it was going to be something inexpensive to repair if needed.
