Fire Ext.. where to mount?
I do not have a roll cage and do not want to mess up the interior. what are my other options? I have a track day this sat. and just found out i need one. thanks
Dav'e suggestion is part of the solution-use one of the mounting bolts for the passenger seat as an anchor point. Go to HD and buy a piece of steel stock and make a bracket that fits under the bolt-have the extinguisher facing forward toward the dash and the front of the bracket bent down 90 degrees so that it touches the floor.
This method keeps the passenger seat in the car
Good luck

What if he needs to keep the passenger seat in for an instructor?

Mount the extinguisher on a piece of wood/lexan. Cut slots on each side. Use the center lap belt (hopefully you have one) to hold it in place. I've never done this myself, but I've seen it done many times. Good luck!
Why does it stink to have extinguishers required in on-track cars? To some extent, I think we're all "lucky" (in the same sense) that they don't require full rollcages and firesystems. Anyway, you really don't want that thing becoming a missle if you have an incident. Bolt it to the floor in front of your passenger seat and pat yourself on the back for doing the job right.

It's just a track day. A car with a full interior has plenty of stuff to burn - the small piece of wood won't be a factor... And if you strap it in with the seat belt, it's not going to go anywhere.

i agree with everything that is above. i do want the fire ext. in the car for safety reasons but i am short on time. what stinks is the short notice ..not the fact of having a safety equipment.
