Stumped on speed sensor...need some help
Ok so the speed sensor on my 95 GSR went out and I bought a used one from a HT member a while back. Well just the other day I get around to finally swapping them out and I come to find out the sensor he sent me looks COMPLETELY different than the one that came out of my transmission. On the one I bought, none of the bolt holes line up with my tranny case, but it does fit down into the hole and plugs into the wiring harness. I figured I would try it out anyways.
I put the new sensor into my tranny and plugged it in and took a drive around the block and what do you know, it worked. I was surprised. So I got on the throttle some and engaged VTEC then shifted gears. After I shifed gears, I noticed my speedo went back down to 0 and stayed there and the CEL came on for code 17 (VSS). I took the sensor out and repositioned it today and it worked again, but as soon as VTEC engages, the speedo goes back down to 0. If possible I would like to use this sensor but I will probably have to buy another one.
Any clues as to why it stops working when VTEC hits?
and a big
to the guy that sold it to me saying it was made for my car. It looks nothing like my old one.

What is there to know?
If it's completely different then odds are it's the same Honda plug, the same chunk of geared metal, but a different sensor. ?!?
