Default heat?

how hot does a valve cover get. just wondering because i was thinking about painting mine with engine enamel. its a d15b if that helps. thanks

aparrently not hot enough to bake paint. countless people on here have painted their valve covers, so it seems like you should be OK man

sweet deal bcuz 4 bucks for a can of paint is better than havin the cover powder coated.

yeah i saw a thread on here last week... this guy did a step by step guide of him painting his valve cover red but left the lettering in its original unpainted form. it looked very good and it looked like it was OEM. if you search you might be able to find the thread.

haven't tried it myself, but as long as you aren't using a 99cent can of paint, you should be pretty good. the only real advantage you might find with powdercoating is longevity. you probably won't get a rattle can job to last for 10 years. I also just prefer the powder finish of a stock cover, so I'm planning to have mine powdercoated next summer.

500 deg. paint will work fine
