Default Replacing rear quarter panel

I've been searching and haven't been very lucky with finding useful information on this. The rear passanger quarter panel has a massive dent in it. I can see that that piece of metal runs all the way over the top of the door. How easy do you think this would be to replace. Any replys are much appreciated.

haha nothing you can do yourself, if the dent is real bad then yes you can replace it you just need to find a skilled bodyshop who is up to the task of doing so....iam gonna have to do this on my hatch pretty soon...

It is more of a crease. The female who owned it before me was lightly rear ended im guessing this caused the area of imperfection.

Uh oh If she was rear ended, and there is a large crease in the quarter panel, then the frame could potentially be bent. Does the car drive straight?

is it passenger side or driver side? I just cut to quarters out of a junk car this spring im putting them on my crx that is sitting in my back yard rusting out . You have to drill all the welds out and find a good spot to cut it out. Find a junk car and ask them if you can cut the quarters out with a torch or a saw zaw. Cut more than you need so when weld them back in that you have more to play with.

If you have more questions pm me.

The frame is fine there is no damage. mysteriously. I'm assuming the creaselike dent is from a rear bumping.. maybe not, this car has so much work to be done.

try replacing two of them

i helped remove. not put on. very very hard task i must say. remember you have a gas tank on the driver side. and you have make sure its 101% lined up, and molded/sanded etc on the new weld spots etc. and you have to replace the rear glass etc.

10/10 hard task i must say. but not for a experienced professional.

o yea 576$ + for one @ the honda dealer. a lot cheaper on hondaautomotiveparts.com but labor is going to be super $ not to metion paint and such.

goo luck

What you do is, if its not to big, is cut out your damaged area and weld in a good area from donor car. This is what I am planning on doing cause I am SICK OF RUST!

Before you do anything; take the car to a frame shop and have them fully measure the frame for any damage!

Then go to Helmsinc and order the factory body assembly manual. It's different than the normal manual. It gives all the information as to how all the individual body panels go together.

Once that is all done, sit down with a cup of coffee and figure out what replacement of the panel will require and if you are capable of doing it your self. (factor into that if you have the tools to do it correctly)

Personally, I'd recommend that you talk to your insurance agent to see what body shop does good work and then talk to them. Get a quote for the work on the assumption that you will remove all interior and exterior body parts. Also have on the quote that they will spray the replaced area with a SEALER (not just primer) to prevent rust.
