bead blasting with glass is for cleaning...
it can also be used for shot peening soft metals

Exactly, its simply how they would remove the carbon buildup on your pistons.

dont know if there is any truth in it.... but i have heard that sand blasting your piston/rods... it relieves any stress from wera/tear they have accumulated. so it would almost be like reistalling "fresh" or new stock rods by simply sand blasting them.
like i said not sure if its true just something ive heard, any comments?

Sounds like your referring to shot-peening, I'm sure theres a multitude of names for the procedure but yes, they use harder beads and at a greater velocity and it essetially "packs" the metal tighter and makes it stronger and the packing action fills in tiny tiny cracks and eliminates stress risers.
Glass beads as far as I know are used 100% as a cleaner, same with sand blasting. Shot peene uses metals, steel iron not sure the exact material.

only thing with shot peening is it shortens the life of the rods that u shot peen.....

glass beading is like shot peening like someone said above they literally shoot the objects with a blast of tiny glass ***** which smooths the object out.....The advantage to this esp. on a piston is that all of the rigid edges and tiny pieces of metal that are slightly higher then the rest of the piston are takin away this is done to reduce posibility of detonation the smaller the piece the more likely it is to get hot the hotter the pistion is the more likely it is to melt or other things.......hope that helped
