Review: Progress Coilovers for 02+ EP3
I have been running the Progress coilovers now for about 5 months on my 04 EP3 and I must say it is one of the best coilovers on the market!
PROS:
1) OEM like suspension: 350 lb in front 650 lb rear..Over city streets the ride is amazingly forgiving, you have to convince yourself that your not riding on the OEM set-up..Yet the faster you go the stiffer the suspension becomes..Handles everything I throw at it and begs for more..Drove through National crest forrest mountain roads at 115 + mph and felt confident the entire time.. Picked up old lady for a night at the movies and she never complained..Not bouncy at all completley stick the tires on the road, really pretty amazing
2) Super Beefy construction: These things are not light, very heavy duty, super thick welds and the shaft is the thickest I have ever seen! (Get your minds out of the gutter..J/k)
3) Fully rebuildable..You can send them in to progress and they can be fully tuned to whatever specs you want for only $75 a shock.. Compared to the larger JDM mfr's Progress is still pretty small so the turnaround time is very fast. Also its nice to talk with someone who speaks english
4) Height adjustment for the front offers unlimited height adjustment possiblities while still allowing full travel, you never have to worry about bottoming out with these..
5) Straight forward installation, took me a total of 1.5 hrs to install front and back.Everything lines up perfect, whoever engineered this kit spent a lot of time thinking things through
6) Customer service is excellent, they are very quick to answer all questiones and concerns..As opposed to other manufacturers I.E-JIC..
7) Price: Paid 930 shipped
8) Greddy used the same kit to win the SI challenge
CONS
1) No upper pillow ball mounts offered as an option
2) Rears basically use a ground control type sleeve instead of integrated threads..You basically use the rears until they blow and throw them away. Rears are not rebuildable
3) Rear height adjustment compared to front is not as impressive..This is fine for most people, but I like the slammed look for the rear.
4) No rebound adjustment
Overall a very good kit...I mingle with Heads using the HKS Hipermax, Tanabe, JIC, and Tein basic and for under $1G I dont think you can find a better suspension than Progress..
These coilovers seem to really shine when you couple it with BOTH front and rear Progress swaybars and D3 6 point X- Brace
