how can I get the most power out of a b18 for cheap?
Can anybody help me? I just got my first car which is a 91' integra gs and I want to race it. I'm still a newbie at this but I know a thing or two about cars. I already added areospeed intake, headers 4-2-1, muffler with 2 1/2 inch pipe. But that not all. As I'm typing this, I'm getting these part put in
Type-R- cams, pistons, fuel rail, injectors, and pump
Si-R- vtec head, computer, manifold set up for nos(but no nos system)
Act- stage 4 clutch and pressure plate
Tenzo- springs 2 inch drop
I'm also going to take out the power steering for the extra 10-15 hp
Now keep in mind I'm 19 so I really don't have alot of money and looking to race for the extra income. The next thing I'm planing on buying is tires because the ones I have now is worst then the stock tires. Which brand is good but cheap?
I want to setup the engine for nos and turbo but the nos first cuz my engine is high compression. What else can I do to upgrade my lil beast at a cheap price?
I'm guessing with these parts I'm putting almost 200hp to the floor can anybody give me a better number then that.
And can anybody tell me what is the compression ratio for type-r pistons?
Thank you to anybody helping me out on my first project- Da young buck flyin' by in his 91' ack b18vtek

well i would say have the head ported and polished, ericks racing throttle body. anything over that is gonna be money. dont forget to have the block worked too, you dont want to crack a cylinder wall. for cheap you can do a block gaurd.
street racing is bad....
3 inch pipe is way too much for exhaust if your not FI, downsize to 2.5...
act doesnt have stages for their clutches...what model is it?
i dont think ur making 200 to the ground..maybe 160...

Wow, this thread could get ugly.
Sounds like you have a lot of research to do. This board will become a great resource, use it and you'll find everything you need to know.

Thanks for your help. What is and what does a block guard and throttle body do? Can you give me a price range for the part and a price range to get the head ported and polished, I know your not a retail store but if you have an idea please let me know. Once again thanks for all the help.

well a block gaurd supports the top of the cylinder during combustion. because hondas use a open form block the cylinder can "walk" under boost. its usualy a 100-150$ part, it wont add horsepower but it can help.
the throttle body is what lets air into your intake manifold. its what you hook the intake up to. its got a plate thats controled by your gas pedal. you can find places on here that will bore out your stock throttle body for 100$
as for port and polish jobs, thats tough. i would say look on the net for shops. prices can be anywhere for p&p. i say look at some of the bigger shops first. king motorsports, jg engine dynamics. i think there's even a few places in new york that do a good job. just look for a place that has done honda heads before.
