Default Safest way to clean engine wireharess covered in thick amounts of oil

Just as the title states I need to find out what is the safest way to clean a wire harness. My friends valve cover on his 91 si cracked for some reason and was spewing oil all over the motor and wire harness. I removed the wire harness from the motor and would like to clean it up, but im not sure what steps or a way to wash the harness without messing it up.

I was thinking of using my pressure washer (low setting) to hose it down. Just not sure if I will damage it in any way?

Any one have any ideas?

Yes, that is how I did it with my car. But I also had compressed air ready to blow off the electrical components, and I did cover some things like the distributor.

The wireharness have been completely removed from the car. Its sitting on my garage floor. When i rinse it , im more concerned on the plug ends since they are exposed and not connected.

I would wrap the plugs in plastic and use engine cleaner, something like simple green, and spray down the wires. That should cut through any junk on the wires.

With harness off the car you have half the battle won! As everyone else said, soak it with some simple green, get a scrub brush or rag and clean it up. Even if you don't have a compressor to blow the water out of your plugs I'm sure hanging it up and letting it air dry will be fine.
