Default speedometer and vtec... and vss

my speedometer still doesnt work. i have tried to run a wire directly from the vss to the cluster and its still a no go. i looked at the back of the cluster where that green thing is and looks fine but in all honesty dont really know what im lookin for, everything seems to look like its still connected. i know the speed sensor is workin cause i have it wired directly to my ecu and vtec is still makin first chirp. any help is most appreciated.

i have the same problem i can't tell how fast i'm going. so i swapped the sensor and it is still messed. i was told it could be my cluster. why don't you look for a working cluster swap it and see if that works.

The VSS has nothing to do with activating VTEC. Sounds like a VSS problem, loose ground, or speedo is bad. VSS is very easy to change, find a friend with a good working one and swap it for a couple minutes to see what happens. Just one bolt right on top the tranny and it pulls right out.

Not to jack the thread or anything but I just had this problem, it still isn't fixed. The night before my VSS stopped working I ran side by side with my friend who has a 95' EX with CAI, Header, Exhaust and now he stomps my *** every time... we have raced a lot so I know there is something wrong so does the VSS really not have anything to do with VTEC? Hope you get your problem fixed man.

check fuse 15 under the dash. I had this problem along with an o2 problem when the o2 sensor wires got caught on the axle and ripped them. after fixing the o2 problem i continued to have a vss and vtec problem. heres the thread that i figured it out... https://honda-tech.com/zero...thank god for a helms )

does your cruise control work?

if your cruise control works it is not the vss.

If the vss is bad sometime you will not be able engage vtec. For you that don't believe this, unhook the vss harness you wont have vtec.

just swap out the vss
