Cheap clutch for zc eventually turbo?
Sup guys,
I searched and found basically people asking for certian types of clutches. First off all, I dont know anything really clutches. I guess that the the "act 1-5" 1 being the lowest and 5 being the best. Im going to be doing a engine swap with a DOHC ZC and my stock 88 crx dx transmission. I wanted to replace my clutch. I will eventually going turbo on it. Now I was looking to spend around 100 bucks. Ive seen Act, and Exedy, and Power dura. They any good?
Also, I was planning to get my flywheel resurfaced and maybe lightened. anywho. If you guy can let me know what my options are.
thanks

The Exedy is a great clutch. You can pick the kit up from I think its clutchcity.com for about 100 or 110 shipped. The exedy clutch is as good or better than oem quality. I can't remember exactly how it goes, but I think its something about the company who makes them makes the honda oem clutches or something to that effect. Someone I'm sure will correct or clarify that. lol Its toooo damn early on a Saturday! lol

Great bang for the buck but it is a stock repalcement so don't expect to much from it.
you're going to need a beefy clutch. On my SOHC VTEC turbo setup, i had a brand new OEM clutch and a resurfaced flywheel.. it lasted all of 1 month before it was slipping at high rpm.

How soon is "eventually". You could end up going through this new clutch before you even get the turbo setup. Give a time frame so your clutch isn't already dead by the time you have turbo ready to go in. If it's going to be a while, forget about prepping it for turbo. IMO, get a cheap clutch for now (dirt cheap) and save the money for turbo or spend it on the turbo parts.
I have a ACT clutch, but my car is non-turbo. I'm using a heavy-duty street set-up from clutchcity online. I believe it can hold up to 230 ft-lb of torque.
