can I install a 6 speaker stereo in my hatch
I have a aftermarket headunit and I just bought some
jbl speakers for the front and rear. But what would I
need to do to add two more speakers. I would like to
get some 6 1/2 inch component speakers and mount
the midrange next to the rear speakers and put the tweeters
in the doors. but cd players are only designed for four speakers
right? are more speakers attached as an auxillary output?

Hook up the aux to an amp and hook up the speakers from the amp. I don't see why a nice component set (mids + tweeters) and a set of rear 6x9's or whatever size back there isn't enough. Adding more speakers is just gonna distort the audio.
The only size speaker that fits in my car are mini 5 1/4 inch speakers.
And I have ridden in a few cars that had factory 6 speaker stereos and
they sounded way nice.

agreed...adding more sets of speakers isnt going to make it sound better. take what you have now and work with that. 2 front speakers is all you really need (no rear speakers at all.)

hook a 4 channel amp to the speakers u have now and a crossover and ur sound will come alive. running speakers off amp and headunit is like night and day.
