What's that noise?
I have a 1998 Civic 4 door LX (4 cylinder). It's started to make noise from the engine area. It's like a low grumbly noise. It hasn't done this for the past 4 months. I went to a body shop and they said that it was the suspension (they specialize in suspensions, and it's definitely an engine noise, so i don't believe them). Please send me any information on this subject. Thank you.
It's sounds like it's coming from the tranny. Like if I press hard on the throttle, the noise gets very loud and then when i let off but not all the way off, it sounds like a light grinding noise (kinda like a clutch not grabbing). I'm thinking it might be the cat too? is the cat located in the engine bay or in the undercarriage?
it could be either the heat shield or your main input shaft bearing, with your luck it will be the heat shield...jack or lift your car up and hit your exhaust (make sure its cooled) and see if it rattles, if it does find which piece of metal is shaking and tear it off with some snips the bolts will be too rusted
