xm satellite radio?
So my wonderful girlfriend gives this to me for our anniversary last night....i REALLY dont know **** about it so i'm trying to do some research. On the box it says XMcommander if that helps anything, and I guess it came with a 3 month subscription.
For now i just have a few basic questions....
1) I know you have to install the antennae... does this mean the stock antennae is no longer used?? IF so...can it be removed?
2) Will i still be able to switch to the fm radio?
3) How much does this run per month? Is it like satellite tv...depending on a package you choose?
4) I can't tap the power lead from my amp for the xm receiver? I have to run another wire to the battery?
TIA

No you still use your stock antenna when you are listening to regular radio.

Its $10 per month plus a few bucks for each premium channel if you chose to subscribe to them.
I cant answer your last question cause I had mine installed by a shop but I love my XM.
Very few commercials if any depending on what channel you are listening to.
Way more channels to listen to and are all pretty much genre specific plus you can listen to other things besides music.
Best of all most the channels play the original songs and not radio edited versions like you would find on regular radio
All in all I think you will like it a whole hell of alot better than regular radio.

Depending on the model that you have, you may be able to use the power lead frojm your amp. If it has 3 wires needing constant ground and remote then you have all of those @ your amp. If it omly needs 2 wires then you still have them @ your amp. I reccomend wiring it to your radio, because the unit will be up front and you wont need to run long wires to wherever your amp is mounted. Any ?'s PM me.
