thanks guys! another quick question. how would a modified version of this motor stand up to a similarly modified 1994 b18c1?

It could hang or beat it, it depends on the driver, I have one heavily modded and I could give my friend's 350 Z hell up to about 110mph...

yeah. the bumper is a 90-91 bumper and the g2 gsr's came with abs. there is no abs in that car. it might be a b18c5 or b16a/b or a b17.

were the 92-93 GSR intake manifolds different from the 94+'s? just wondering because i dont think that looks like a GSR either.

The intake manifold looks like a b16 manifold

Yea the Vin says that it is NOT a gsr. I doubt if someone swapped in a B17 and since the valve cover is black and the intake manifold is not "upside down" my guess is it is a B16

I think the VIN is
JH4DA93?3MS040028

DA9: INTEGRA 3D-Hatchback 1800
M: 1991

The B17's didn't come with "upside down" intake manifolds. Those were introduced in 94 with the B18C1.

I can tell looking at the color of the car, that it's not a GS-R. Engine is probably a B16. B17's are rare and not many ppl give them up.

I know. I said that ruling out the possibilty that it was a B18C....
and since the DOHC is big and the VTEC is in small lettering it is a USDM motor
It is a B16

curious but i thought b16 valve covers had a honda symbol on them and b18c had just honda motor company on it. anyway it doesn't have the upside down intake manifold maybe it is a B17

Who's saying they haven't swapped valve covers with someone?

BTW...... 92 GSR's did come in black in Canada...... but that is not a gsr...... It looks like a B17 cause that's the same valve cover and intake that I have.

We are all making assumptions here. Chances are it is a B16. If you start talking about swapped valve covers etc then it could be ANY B series motor.

yea if were putting in swapping valve cover to the mix then it could be any B-series except a B18-C1

Its either a 90 or 91.

Possible OBD conversion since it has a grey plug distributor.

My guess would be a B16.
