F1 Qualifying moved to Sunday
Anyone know when it's going to be on TV, now? I don't think my Tivo can react this quickly, considering the program titles on the guide won't change at this late notice.
FIA race director Charlie Whiting called a meeting at 5:30 p.m. local time to discuss the options open to the race organizers. They decided to abandon Saturday’s running altogether, cancel free practice and move qualifying to Sunday. Pre-qualifying will now start at 09:00 Japanese time, with qualifying proper kicking off an hour later. The race will begin as scheduled at 14:30.
Let's see, Sunday at 14:30 Japan would be Saturday 22:30 Pacific, then Sunday 9:00 Japan would be Saturday 17:00 Pacific. But Speed channel won't have qualifying live, so it's schedule at 7:30pm Pacific on Saturday and race at 10pm pacific.
I hope it was kind of clear

That was a big typhoon. It shut down both Tokyo airports and most train services. Pretty much paralized the region for about 3 hours. The race should be run under cloudy and mostly dry conditions.

I'm looking forward to keeping my neighbors up tonight (j/k)... always nice to see qualifying and then the race shortly afterwards (the same night).

I kinda really like this idea.
If you're going to require the fuel loads and tires to remain the same between qualifying and race anyway, why not qualify the morning of the race? One less day of expensive logistics, data analysis and PR to bullshit with when outside of europe, and one more free day for testing for the teams that need cheap testing during the races in europe.
*cues up weather machine*
