Default which distributor to use???

I purchased a very inexpensive '89 Honda Accord w/ auto tranny and carb. There were 2 distributors in the car...one TEC TD42k...and one Hitaachi D4NR84-48. How do I determine which one is for this car?

Call a honda dealer with your VIN number. You'll want the parts dept. Then ask them if they can tell you what dist. it has. All accords came with 2 different types. It depends on the engine thats in it.

thanks...good advice...the engine is a A20A1...

I called a Honda dealership and spoke w/ a fellow in parts...he said either one should work...lol...figures...does anyone see a problem w/ his advice...the TEC is in much better conditon. Would it hurt the engine if it's not the right one?
