Default '04 Accord radio removal

What's up guys, I'm new to the site, and new to Honda as well. I just sold my '02 nitrous/cam Camaro SS for an '04 Accord, and to tell you the honest truth, apart from power, I like the Accord MUCH better.

With that admitted, I'm looking to install subs and two amplifiers, and need to get to the back of my factory head unit (which will not be replaced). I just need to know what to take apart to get it out. Removal instructions would help a BUNCH!

Thanks!

I looked at that site, but could not find any info for the '03/'04 generation. The newest I could find is 1999-2000. Is there a specific link you could give me?

And I know at least SOMEONE here has taken their factory deck out.... help!

Thanks

hey, i'm in sorta the same boat. this guy's site has been the closest thing i've found. basically shows you how to get to under the head unit, but not to take it out. basically take off shifter console trim, undo screws. take out coinholder/cig plug. undo screws. remove lower storage compartment, but then...??

it is really hard to remove the factory deck in those cars... when i worked at best buy we used to dread removing them... i would personally take it to a shop and avoid the headache and possibility of cracking something

freshpizzaguy, so is it possible to remove the deck without disturbing the air conditioning(etc) controls? i didn't think you could do that, but from your post it sounds like maybe it can be done??? at least by a shop? i'm curious!

check into PAC... I think it was them.... One of those companies now make a High -> Low level converter that not only takes the high level to low level, but you also connect a wire to your amps +12 constant, and the High Low adaptor has a circuit that reads when the speaker lines are "active" and has a 2nd wire that works as a remote turn-on output.

This would be the easiest way to go since you could just tag off of the rear speakers.

That is excatly how to do it. The cubby hole is a PITA, and the vents atop the HU are a PITA. Go slow, it takes a little time to pull it out.
