gutted cat and now check eng light. doh!
Ok so ive obviously made a mistake. But i saw these test pipes on ebay for sale. So i didnt think that it would matter if i had a cat or not. So i decided to unclog my engine by gutting the cat. Then next day engine light comes on.
Is there some way to fix this other than buying another cat? Cause im a man and itd be pointless just to undo something that i did
And also i bought an APEXI N1 universal muffler, does anyone have this on their ep3? This thing is huge, im wondering if i can get it installed at the angle (up and out) i want.
Man i hate the ep3's exhaust.

ur stuck either buying a used cat from someone or a new one...or living with the cel the muffler shop can mount it for u if u didnt know ur cel was gonna come on then u probably cant weld.....so get it done may as well get all the piping from the cat back done while ur there too
Does the cel hurt gas mileage and hp? man, this goes right along with the annoying seatbelt beeping.
Anybody bought one of these? http://www.tornactive.com/pd_m...w.cfm

it can hurt both but I've noticed that it can also mess up O2 sensors too. just search for people who have them for sale. alot of people are buying race headers so you find one out there.

first problem i see here is that you gutted your cat without realizing the consequences. you need to be real careful in the future and not just do something for the hell of it.
your CEL due to the lack of catalytic converter does not impact performance or mileage. it does however prevent you from seeing any other problems if they do come up. the only way so far to reliably turn off the CEL is with hondata kpro feature. with a casper's o2 simulator, ppl have observed different results. works for some, doesn't work for others.
point being, why did you gut your cat in the first place not knowing that you would turn on your CEL light. you also do know that you just commited a felony by running with on the street with a gutted cat right? (not that we'd tell on u)

i think there are two ways to interpret it though. and diff states do it differently. there's "operating a car w/o a functioning cat" which i think is just a huge fine. then there's "modifying the car to disable the cat" which is a serious one cause it involved intent and act.
prob check with yer local state laws hehe. either way it's really serious if u get caught.
