Alright 88's have a unique suspension that shares some rear parts with the ITR. My question is what shocks are available for the 88's? KYB AGX? Koni?
Remember that the bottom shock mounts are different than the later model CRXs the 88s mount inside the link the later models mounts rap around.
On my 88 CRX I have tokico shocks the adjustable ones and they ride firm.

Koni has externally or internally adjustable rear yellows for 88's. You can pick up internally adjustable for really cheap. I got my rears for about $100. Front are all the same i think.

The 88-91 front shocks are all the same. The 89-91 rear shocks are all the same. The 88 rear shocks are the outcasts, they are different.

actually, for some reason, the 88 front shocks do have separate part numbers. im not sure why, but theres something to it, even tho they all might fit between the years.

Maybe because they sell them in sets. Look around and you'll see other places that list them with the same part #'s.

The 89-91 shocks have like a fork-like way of mounting itself on the LCAs. The 88 shocks go into the LCA.
For example, the shocks on the right would fit any Honda with LCAs like the 88 crx stlye:

I THINK it has something to do with the front brakeline bracket...but I'm not positive.
Otherwise the length is the same.

Damn very confusing. Sometimes when there's an outcast, shops/stores unknowingly group them all together...it's very common with BMW as well. The difference between the front shocks 88 vs 89-91 is probably minor anyway. I know i read that the diameter is different but not sure if that's accurate.

Ok but why would companies bother giving them separate part numbers and different pricing?

actually, im thinking this is probably the reason. the 89-91 front kit comes with the odd brakeline adaptor for each side, which im thinking to a manufacturers point of view, the addition of any extra part to a kit requires a different part number, yet the subtle difference in part number reflects the minor addition to the kit.

They do this because they have to assume you have very little mechanical ability and they want their part to bolt right in for you. They don't want you calling them bitching about something that doesn't work
You can make anything work though if you put some thought into it as these are minor details.
