Need some answers. Please
Hi. I got a question for you guys. My car was involved in a flood and now the engine wont start or turnover. Do you guys think this problem is fixable or do I need to get a new car. Fixable by meaning less than $5000 repairs. Thanks
dude do you have any idea how much and s2000 motor goes for. Plus unless your a mechanic you still have to pay installation. So i ll take a chance and say that it will most likely be more then 5000g's
first off....
have you taken the spark plugs out to see if there is water in the cylinders?
how deep of water are we talking? into the interior deep?
have you checked to see if the ecu got wet?
there are lots of things you need to check before thinking all is lost....
what about your insurance?
slow down and chheck out some of the above suggestions....
AND CHECK THE CYLINDERS BEFORE TRYING TO CRANK THE CAR AGAIN....
WATER DOES NOT COMPRESS....

I bought the car like this from an insurance company. Everything has been dryed out. Maybe I'll go test all my electronic devices on it.
A friend of mine had an S that was involved in a flood. the car was entirely submerged in water for an extended period of time during the big flood a few years back in Houston. They replaced the block & head. Electronics were fine, everything else dried out just fine. He pushed them to replace the carpet, but all else ended up being fine. This might be what you are looking at replacing. But to see, you'll need to start tearing the motor down.
There are some blocks available. Check with HAP recycling and see what the motors go for, IF that is the case. Best of luck.
