Brake warning light , 01 sedan
Hi guys, my first post: has anyone had their brake warning indicator light come on occasionally, when brakes still function, firm pedal (no apparent leaks)? Ours just started it--will come on in the morning for a few minutes, then (so far) go off after a while. We don't see this going home in the pm, even though it sits at work just as long as it does at home. Fluid level in mc is fine, but sensor float (connected to mc cap) seems to have little hairline cracks all over it. I'm wondering if the float is flaky--anyone have any idea where I can get a new mc cap (not spend $100 on a new mc that I believe is fine)? Thanks for any ideas!
If the float is retaining fluid, then that's likely your problem. I would go by a junk yard and buy a new cap/float assembly. I would guess less than $10.

Honda has issued a bulletin for this. It says to replace the master cylinder filter and also possibly the cap. Check with the dealer, they'll have the correct part numbers.
