Default timing belt tensioner

I am going to take my car in for a major service soon which will include a timing belt replacement. When I talked to some garages they said it would be a good idea to replace the timing belt tensioner too, however when I spoke to Honda they said tensioners hardly get worn out and I shouldnt worry too much about it.

What's everyone else think? The car has done 60k and has no service history. Also anyone know where I can get a tensioner from? Honda dealers in London dont have any in stock

At 60k, I would not worry about the tensioner bearing, if cost or availability are an issue.

my motor had 87K miles on it and i just did a timing belt change. didnt change the tensioner. i know alot of people that dont change the tensioner's. there motors been fine so far. i would say change it if u have extremely high mielage like over 150K.

60K and ur change n the belt already????? damn, i would wait at leaset another 20K. but no problems in change n it now

You probably dont need to replace the tensioner now. Try to replace it before 100k miles though, i replaced my timing belt at 90k and didn't replace my tensioner, and 10k miles later the tensioner wore out and my timing belt slipped. Then again, it also depends on the motor.
