where to get zc rods and pistons
I am about to start building my dohc obd1 zc motor. I was wonering what d series rods and pistons will work? Or are they something other than d series? and where is a good place to get them? I am wanting to boost it so I want a compression ratio somewhere around 9.0:1. Thanks for any info.
i think it was on homemadeturbo.com where i heard this but i'm not sure, as it was a long time ago. also, this may not be accurate, but i vaugly remember people talking about using Izuzu Rodeo or Suzuki Samurai or some type of small suv pistons.
i can't remember, i'd have to look it up...but from what i remember they fit d-series and are stronger than oem. i'm not sure if they are dished or flat though....hmmm....now i'm kinda interested in looking into this again.

They are the Suzuki Vitari, which are CAST pistons, not forged like everyone thinks, that drops the compression to about 8.5:1 on an A6. I think the drop though in compression would be too much in the DOHC ZC, and I would recommend that you use the stock A6 pistons.

I thought they were heat treated pistons and people recommened them over the stock a6 for that reason.

For OEM replacemnet you can go w/ the 89 Teg pistons, and I am 98% sure that the rods are the same as well. I Know that teh pistons are the same cast#

No, it is because they lower the compression and fit right in there on the stock rods.

Also, here are some links to read up on the Vitara. I'll add them as I good.

Yes, but you'll need to use a compression calculator to verify what the specs will need to be as it will be different in a ZC.....
