cam bearings on head scored
i have a chance to aquire a b16 head, the engine had low oil pressure, and the cam scored the bearing, near the timing cover, are these repairable, can they be machined thanx.
I recently sent a b16 head to a head porter on the west coast that had the journals scarred. He saw the head and told me it wasn't worth fixing. So I sent him a new GSR head. I think they can probably be fixed, but b16 heads can be found easily for $300-500. Depending on how bad (deep) the scoring is, I would just go get another head.
Yes they can be machined, and its a pretty simple process.
I am not sure why the machinest wouldn't do it?
You simply mill the cam cap slightly, then align hone the cap to the head.

it only has scoring on the intake and exhaust on the bearings near the timing cover, but itraded somthing for the head, which almost cost me next to nothing, so im wondering if it's worth fixing, of maybe worth somthing to someone.
