91 hatch B18a Swap PROBLEMS
This is a b18a in a 91 dx. I did the dpfi to mpfi at the time of swap. I got the motor in and everything went pretty good. It started and died the first few times then when I reved it it would sputter out. I drove it around the parking lot. If it was light throttle it would do ok but heavy throttle it would buck and sputter out. I had no cel. I went through and soldered all the wire figuring I might of had a bad connection. I t would start and die. Sometimes it was easy to start other times you had to crank it for awhile and mess with the throttle. Today I noticed that the spark wasn't consistant and I was getting a bunch of codes. After some tracking down I found the ground at the t-stat housing loose. I got it tightend down and got good spark everytime now. I still have a code 16. But, the injector plus went away at all injectors. I retraced all wire. I have power to the injectors when cranking the engine. I have fuel pump working when cranking the ignition. I just have no ground pulse from the computer. I rechecked all the grounds. I went through all the wires again. Every once in a while the noid light would pulse real dim. But it doesn't even do that anymore. If I pull the gound wire off the t-stat housing the noid light will have a dim glow to it. I matched all the wire colors up when I switched the plug ins on the dist. I tried to swtich the two white wires but then I get no spark. What sets the code 16? What does the computer use to fire the injectors? Any I deas? think the computer is dead? What computer should I be using? I got a pr4. Thanks for any help

Damn dude, thats really weird. At first i was thinking its something with the grounds...but you said that youve checked the grounds. You dont happen to have a multimeter do you....cuz that would make things a whole lot easier. One thing that you can check is the injectors themselves...if they have a filter make sure that theyre nice and clean...if not then just look down into the top and make sure there isnt any gunk in there restricting the fuel flow. I know its a long shot but this actually happened to me...one injector filter clogged and that cylinder was misfiring. Took it out and cleaned the filter...boom the car ran fine. Sorry i couldnt help out more.
Tommarow I'll check the TPS again. I guess if I have it backwards it would be in a clear flood mode. I did a search and didn't really find anything. The code 16 is what gets me. I got a copy of the code 16 test flow chart from Mitchell. I'll go through that tommarow also. I've got a multi-meter and will check all the wires to ground and countinuity to the injectors. I'll also make sure I have 12 volts to the injector, guess the test light isn't really to accurate. I just figure that the dist is tell the injector when and how much. I think I might have a bad ECU. But, it was working before. Now I have no output on any of the 4 injector drivers. I couldn't imagine that all 4 drivers would go bad.
Any other ideas?
