Default Best cams and Pulley for B18B

just as the topic states, was wondering who has experience with pulley's and cams on the ls motor and what would be the best application. Or what is the most popular application for this motor. I had a problem finding cams, because most of them are made for the vtec motors.

Well since the guy above you was zero help, I might as well give you a hand. Crower makes some different profile cams for the B18a/b, I'd give them a look and see if what they have fits what you are looking for. Also what exactly are you looking for in the way of cams? Are staying N/A or going F/I? A little info on your setup and goals will help others help you.

well im going to stay n/a on this setup. probably swap to a h22a later though but i want some more power for the time being and i think cams, pulley's and headers .. intake will give me a lil more power. i would like to beat those b16's they always pass me in the topend at the track it sucks.

B16 pistons are 81 mm just like the B18c,B18a or b, B17

They fit trust me

Your c/r will be around 11.1 : 1
With 404's and a lot of tuning and the regular bot ons ( cam gears, valve springs, retainers, intake, exhaust )
Should see around 180 to the ground ( give or take a little )

Everyone says that... yay for 1800rpm of VTEC (I'm not 100% sure when vtec kicks in, i've never touched the stuff)! Or spin it to 8500 like the typical LS/VTEC moron will do and wonder why it blows up so well...

Yes B16 Pistons will fit I have P30 Pistons in my LS Block!

For cams, try the Crower 404's, they are great cams! Dont waste a **** load of money on Cam gears, look up JG Engine Dynamics Cam gears, I bought mine from AN-R.com for $129 shipped for a PAIR ( YES, I said a PAIR)

The JG's are really light and good quality, I like them better than the SKUNK2 Cam gears, I had a set of Skunk2 cam gears when they first came out and I had nothing but problems with them jumping teeth!

Its not as expensive as you think! You can spend less then $500 if you use the stock rods!

No you dont have to change the rods! I have P30 Pistons on LS Rods! If you were to use CTR Pistons then you have to machine the rods, but you can still use LS/B20 Rods!

Pretty often, I was checking them almost everyother day! Sometimes they jumped 2 teeth, sometimes 4! I got rid of them b/c they weren't engineered very well IMO! I'm not knocking on Skunk2 Cam Gears b/c Im sure they have fixed these flaws, but must remember this is yrs ago when they first came out on the market!

if you noticed a loss in power and the car isnt running right then check your timing belt, you may have a problem, but like i said im sure this was just a flaw in their early stages of development!

ok well i was just put on to a deal where i can get the b16 head and the ecu and all the work done for about 1000. dollars.. i was also told that if i just add the pistons to this head in this elevation i will only gain maybe 5 horsepower even though the compression jump is so great. I was thinking put the vtec head on and also get the b16 pistons at the same time maybe then i could have like a cheap mans type r and push out good power.

well if your going to swap it for a h22 then stay non-vtec becuase if you do a ls/vtec you have to get the bottom end built and use arp for everything(which you should anyways) to be able to hold the 8k rpm.if not boom!ill do crower 404 cams and springs,jg cam gears.p30 pistons with arp head, and rod bolts.if you whant more power ill get a pnp head and raise the cp by using a 2 layer head gasket and maybe milling the head a bit.you can also get your tb ported out for 100 bux to a 65mm or 68mm i dont remember at maxbore.com or you can get both your tb and im ported and polished (runners also on im) by dh-racing.com also a clutch and a flywheel will help.on the flywheel you can get it lightened by dh-racing.com
