Default Transmission slop?

I was just curious on something and thought maybe I could turn to Honda-Tech men to help me with it. I want to know what the slop in the tranny is when its in gear. Why I ask is, I have a B16 S1 tranny and my boy has a D16 Z6 (not sure on his trany) but when its in gear it still feels like its in neutral. When my tranny is in gear I dont have as much "play" in my shifter as him. Play as in side to side movement.

Just curious on what the side to side "play" is while its in gear.

Thanks for any help, I hope this isnt a stupid question and Im clear on what Im asking.

Matt

you can have some play in the shifter why in gear, but too much play will cause to misshift and create wear on the tranny. have your buddy change his stock shifter bushings, as those might be stock ones and worn out by now. also make sure he has all the bushings, and spacers that are needed to install the shifter to the linkage. without those, he'll get too much side to side movement! good luck
