pushing 300watts to a 150watt sub okay?
could a 10inch fosgate punch rated at 150 watts be able to handle 300 watts...if that even makes ne sense.... cuz i have a shitty 2 chan sony xplod amp 150 watts per channel....if i bridge it to 300 watts the sub sounds like its blown if i turn it too loud......now, i thought the sub couldnt handle it.....but my friend told me the amp couldnt handle it......
can someone clarify this for me please?
TIA
btw....i dont kno **** about car audio

It will be just fine. You are not pushing all the power all the time. Think of your volume as a gas pedal. With 2x power you'll never need to go ALL OUT.
BTW what are the specs on the Xplod amp? is it 2x150 into 2 ohms and 300x1 into 4 ohms mono?
Yes I've been to the big dance called IASCA.

im not running 300watts now. i just tried it to see if it would work okay but it didnt..it sounded really good until i turned it to a certain volume then it couldnt handle it. so yeah thanx guys....
mista bone- yeah i think those are the specs for the amp

Speakers are not resistive loads and the ohms of your speaker will vary depending on the frequency and the position of the cone. If you have a 300 watt amp, you speaker is not always seeing 300 watts.
Power ratings are useless. Ignore them. It's better to send more power to your speaker than not enough. There's actually 2 ways they rate power handling on speakers. The thermal limit, how much heat the voicecoil can take and mechanical limit which is when the voicecoil former hit's the backplate which is surrounded by the magnet.... this is when your speakers bottom out.

And really start sounding like ***!!!!
Unless you're running Road Gear or Sparco equipment, don't ignore the power ratings. Don't go out and buy a 200 Watt Max Sub with the intention of running a 300Watt amp to it. But, if you have the equipment already, you can do it pretty easily. Respect it, go easy with the gains (as always), and it should last a good while.

alot of power that has minimal distortion (300 W) is always better than lets say 100 W with 1 percent distortion
you will be fine otherwise if you are pushing 300 watts

uhh...everyone is saying different things.... some say go ahead.. some say dont...
i think ill just stick to the way its set up now... thanx for the replies though...
