you might have a leak in the lines somewhere. Happened on my last car. They put steel lines, not STAINLESS steel lines, and with road salt and other corosive agents of the such, they have a tendency to rust through, which could be prevented if they used STAINLESS steel lines instead.

i'm not sure... i went and asked for a recharfe and they filled it up. I hope i won't need a new compressor, aren't those expensive?

yeah...new from the factory they are at least 300 bucks...you could probably find a decent used one from a junkyard for $100 or so

refilling with too much will cause he system to be not cold too. bring it back to whoever refilled them and have them look at the system. If you refilled it yourself... an entire can MAY have been too much. On the flip side... yea, you could have a leak.

Did you have them simply add refrigerant? Or did they evacuate the system? Air & moisture in there will really hurt the AC's performance. Like for example, the PO had a leak & never fixed it for 2 years. Then he just installed a new hose, never hooked up a vacuum pump, just put in a can of R134a from KMart.
I had the same problem. I had a tiny leak from my intake rubbing against the A/C lines. I emptied out the remaining refrigerant, changed the hose, and recharged with brand-new refrigerant.
check for leaks, and listen for the compressor, over chaging will casue erratic clicking on and off the compressor and rediculous high side pressure...
if the system had a leak for any reason at all and moisture was let it... u might want to replace ur reciver /dryer..... to be on teh safe side also want to replace the (i forget the name of it) but it is located under the dash on the evaporator and it had temp sensor on it might need replacing.....

most likely a leak, i used compress air to find a leak. Heres how, u take a valve stem remover tool and take off the nipple and after that use a tapered head air tool and spray air into the lines, you will surely hear the leak if there is one
