Where is the dome light wire in 7th gen Civics?
ok heres my scenario:
im trying to install some lighting and i want it to behave exactly like my dome light does. by that i mean, i want the lights to come on when i unlock the car with the stock keyless entry system and stay on until i start the car, etc, just like the dome light does. i assume that in order to do this, i need to find the (+) wire for the front center dome light and use that for my lights.
heres my problem: ive searched high and low for answers to this question and ive never had a lot of patience, so i started tapping every wire i could find and testing it using a ground wire and a test light, and nothing worked!
heres what ive tried so far: green wire with red stripe coming down drivers side a-pillar, all 4 wires that terminate in a connector which plugs into the dome light assembly, both of the wires that terminate directly into the center dome light bulb holder, all 4 of the wires that terminate at the on/off/door switch on the dome light assembly, various other wires on the dome light assembly.
so basically ive tested every wire that has anything to do with the dome light and i still cannot get a test light to mimic the behavior of the dome light. when i would test a wire, i would move the on/off/door switch to different positions and open/close the door and see if the test light responded like the dome light. in every case, the test light was either on all the time, off all the time, or on when the switch was in the off position.
this has become very frustrating and im about ready to just give up on this project, but i was just wondering if anyone here knows how to accomplish what im trying to do.
btw i have a 2004 civic ex 2dr with the stock keyless entry system, no alarm.
thanks!!
