brake problems....need some advise
i own a 92 cx with itr 4 lug conversion.......... but iam starting to hear noises coming out of the passenger side brakes, so i looked around and didnt find anything that wasent supposed to be there, the brake shield is a lil bit bent ( i hit it with some **** dont ask) at the bottom but its not rubbing at all on the disk, so i try spining the rotors with the wheel off and everytime i do its when i hear that squeeking noise..... so my questions is, should i clean the breaks with break cleaner or could it be that the pads are fucked up and i need new ones?........... and by the way the pads look like they have half life on them and arent used up..
what kind of pads are they ?
aftermarket pads have a tendency to squeal. you can try applying brake quiet to the backing of the pad, and also taking a piece of sandpaper and sanding the rotor so it doesnt have the record player design on it and letting the pad re-seat.
try that, and if no good, then get OEM DEALER pads. theyre more expensive, but they last longer, and dont eat your rotor as quick as aftermarket pads.

nothing very rough, i dont know what # grit, but something enough to lightly scratch it.
yes after you resurface it, clean it. brake cleaner and paper towels to get the metal filings that are on there off, or you can even use a soap water solution, or any type of cleaner. make sure you dont get your finger prints or any smudges of grease or anything on them.
