There should be a sticker on the driver door jamb, and it'll tell you what year, model, GVW and other goodies like that

Look at the VIN, here's an example from team-integra.net. If it has no VIN then it's probably stolen.

JH4DB7561WS000001

The position of W is where the model-year is represented so whatever is in that place is the year of it.

W= Model year
R: 1994
S: 1995
T: 1996
V: 1997
W: 1998
X: 1999
Y: 2000
1: 2001

There is a stamp on the head that will say the year I think it's right above the #3 or 4 cylinder. If it says 95 then it will be a 95 or 96 motor.

Just cause it doesn't have a vin doesn't mean it's stolen. Jdm engines have no vins.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by VTECorona &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Look at the VIN, here's an example from team-integra.net. I also think 94-95 USDM engines didn't have the VIN stamped on them... is that correct?

Well if it's a B18C1 or B18C5 and has no VIN, my statement applies.

And what about longblocks and shortblocks bought directly from Acura dealerships. I know of plenty of them that have been legally bought and then sold later. None of them have VIN's. Also, USDM OBD-1 LS and GSR swaps don't have VIN's either.

Jeez guys, give me a break. Fine, if the motor looks old and is USDM and has no VIN or looks like the VIN was removed then it MAY be stolen.

Just trying to make sure all of the possibilities are out in the open.
