How can I tell what year mt GSR engine is?

How can I tell what year mt GSR engine is?
Are there year specific markings? Valve covers colors....others? I was told mine is a 1995 B18c1 GSR....but I'd like to make sure....thanks.

theres a number on the head in front on the left hand side. There should be 2 numbers at the end to the right. example, 9 I 5 is 95. sometimes though the year it was produced was before the year it was sold, so it could be a 96. someone correct me if im wrong

sounds about right ....if it has a vin # then you'll know it's a 96-up

Even used motors, they usually pull the VIN off of it, at least from my experience. Look at the number on the head.
