What is this ITR worth?
I found a 98 ITR with 61k miles, bone stock except for a APEXI dunk (ugh) catback and a Neuspeed rear lower tie bar, car is super clean inside and out. Here is the catch, it has had previous salvage title history. Meaning it was a new car, driven until sometime in 2001, wrecked into a guard rail, issued the salvage title, bought at the salvage auction, repaired, sold to a 3rd party, and its a friend of a friend that has it and wants to sell it. I thought it was a 13k dollar car before I knew about the title history, now I'm thinking like 10k is top dollar, what do you guys think?
Yeah but when you try to sell it your not gonna get close to 13k<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by B-money »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I would pay up to 13k if it was fixed right. i wouldnt do it, pay extra and buy something BONE STOCK. i bought a clean title 98 itr and found out the idiot ran nitrous through it and fried the engine and tranny. mine cost 12,500 in the beginning, after rebuilding the engine, tranny and new suspension im looking close to 16 or 17,000. i would have paid that for a stock one.
BUY CLEAN TITLE, its hard to get a loan and insurance anyway.

If you are going to keep the car for a while, I say buy salvage title is better idea, you saving 6-7 grand just on that.. well, you must first get a full check out at the mechanics make sure there are no problems.
Reason being that a car with higher miles is also worth-less, so it will be so worth it if you gonna put a lot of mileage on it... if you gonna sell it in a year or too, then don't buy it.
How much differences does it make if a car has 150 k miles clean title vs 150 k miles salvage title. probably not that much. Plus insurance will pay you full market value if the car gets stolen... I asked them.
That was my thought which leads me to buy my 2001 py with 29k miles for 14.5k with basic mods...i/e/h. oem body kit
The car runs great so far, i've put 3k miles on it.
Just my 2 cents, good luck.
by the way, how much he ask for?

Hey, I resent that.
But to answer your question, $10k is about right. If anyone pays $13k for a salvage title, they're getting ripped off. Just think...you said this car wasn't wrecked until 2001. Before then, the car was still worth $20k easy. There must have been a shitload of damage done to it for it to receive a salvage title when it was worth that much.

Insurance will pay full market value for a salvaged title or nonsalvaged title?

Non-Salvaged... which is fair.
Salvaged or not in a insurance sense, the value of the car should not be any different. because the part and labor were put it...value will not change.
some people thinks that salvage title will result high insurance premiums, which is also false. I pay the same amount .
