running on 3 cylinders
i believe my obd1 b16a crx is running on three cylinders. the reason i say this is that i can crank the car, remove the spark plug wire from the 3rd cylinder from the right and i will hear no pitch change nor any slugishness, but if i take any of the other ones off i instantly hear my motor about to die. i bought a brand new spark plug to make sure it wasn't a bad spark plug and also from not paying attention to where my finger was i was shocked by the spark plug wire so i know im getting juice to the spark plug. i did a compression test, but i did not open the throttle body. so im going to recheck my compression to make sure its strong, but it should at least be getting compression right? with out opening the throttle body i got 125 across the board. i think i might not be getting any fuel to that certain cylinder. thats the only thing i can think of. should i check something before i remove that injector to check on it? is there any way of finding a bad injector or knowing how to clean it if it is clogged. the motor seems decent without the firing of this one cylinder otherwise, i just think im missing around 40 hp.
pull off your injector clip on problem cylinder. and get a test light and see if you get 12V across the clip with the engine running.
It MUST be across the clip, dont try to the chassis for ground because ground is what your testing for at the clip. Injectors have full time 12V and are opened when the ECU grounds them out.
If you are...
Get a spark tester, or just ground one against the block to see if your getting spark..
If you are....
Pull the injector and give it 12V from a battery or something.. just do it once or twice and you should hear it click, just make sure its quiet. ANd when shoving the wires in the injector to hook to the battery make sure they dont touch or you will ruin the injector..
If you are....
You have a serious problem

im also maybe thinking that i didn't get all the wires wrapped well when i took the resistor box off. ill check that too. thanks for the help guys.
well i finally found my problem, it was indeed running on 3 cylinders. the ground for the injector was totally separated. i guess while i was installing the new clips on the harness i had damaged the wires somehow. im just happy now because it seems to be running a lot better, and a bit faster, now you can tell that theres an engine in there. thanks you guys.
