Is Aluminized Mild Steel OK for IC piping
I went to JC whitney for my IC piping and followed the link here. I only found out it wasn't pure aluminum when i realized how heavy it was
. Do you guys run this kind of material for your IC piping or real aluminum. There should be no differnece ecept for weight and very minimal heat dissipation properties right? Jsut wanted to know if this was right or not.

you can use aluminized steel pipe for CAC pipes, it is used commonly due to the cost, availability, and ease of welding. You want to make sure you get the aluminized coating completly off the weld areas before welding. The coating helps prevent rust but really contaminates a well like a mother....if your TIG welding them.
I run aluminum CAC pipes but if I had to get some made quickly or I only had a MIG welder I would use the Aluminized Steel without any reservations.

Mine came out like **** when i got it Tig.. So i had to grind off that excess alum coating to get a nice weld, or else it will create bubbles when welding... (which doesnt look good at all, which can cause boost leaks... )
but for Mig welds, it came out nicely, with or without the aluminum coating ...

Ahh IC.
