Hi all, nice board.

I have just installed a Pipercross induction kit to my '98 ITR. Athough it sounds great it makes quite a loud whistling noise as I gently accelerate- I think the noise has always been there in background, but since i have installed induction kit its amplified 10 times!!

Has anyone else had a similar experience? or have I broke it already!!

I'm assuming by "induction kit" you're referring to an "intake"? If so, yes...this whistling is normal during acceleration. Do a search for "whistling" and you'll see.

 

yeh sorry i meant "air intake" same thing. Just thought it was quite loud but if thats normal then fine.

Induction noise is common - I used to have it when I used an AEM Cold air intake.

Mugen CAI doesn't seem to have it. Not sure about the J's..?

 

My J's whistles at partial throttle. I think it comes from the throttle plate in the TB only being partially open so the air creates a whistle as it passes by. You just can hear it when the car is stock because the air box/resonator muffles the sound.

 

My J's does that as well. I kinda like it.

ditto, ive had people tell me my j's sounds like a BOV when i drive by.

 

I have got that on the 3 integras i have owned. I love it and wouldnt change it.

 

i personally think its annoying. Aem short ram used to whistle. icebox doesn't whistle anymore
