Default Wierd Knocking In GF's '94 Civic DX?

Good morning!

Started noticing this a while ago, but here's the situation. When the car is cold, like 8-10 hrs cold (sits overnight), and when the air temp gets down below about 60, it has a knock in the engine for about 3-4 minutes. Knock isn't there when idle, but only does it under load, when driving down the street. I keep the revs down to 1500-2000 and after a few minutes, it's gone.

What's stranger yet, is that the knock will be there in the morning when I take her to work, but then I drive to work and it sits in the parking lot for 8 hours (similar air temps), the knock isn't there when I start it and drive it home.

I'm thinking rod bearing or wrist pin is failing, or something that goes away as either oil pressure increases, or as everything heats up.

Any ideas?

Where is the knock coming from? Could just be in need of valve adjustment.

I can't really tell, because it doesn't do it during idle, so it's not like I can really get a good listen... It only does it when driving down the street.

That Knock you're hearing is piston slap. It happens when any car is Cold. Some are much more than others. It goes away when the car is hot because the pistons expand and the gap between the piston and cylinder wall gets much tighter. My Civic does that too, It happens at slight loads. It has helped quiet down with a thicker oil.
