I bought a T3 turbo and it has a crack down the middle on the inside of the housing. Can it be used? Here are the pics. Thanks.

From the pics you have its kinda hard to tell where the crack is.. Can you take another pic of the entire housing and show where the crack is at?

 

 

Err.. Thats crack is in an important place.. You can try welding it but that probably would restrict flow unless you grind it down(which is going to be hard because of where its at)..

I would just look around for another exhaust housing that matches your and bolt it on..

 

Damn. Another reason not to buy used turbo's online unless you really know the person..

 

Where did you get the turbo from.. And also can you take a pic of the entire exhaust housing.. A friend of mine has an extra T3 housing that might fit yours.. What brand is yours?

 

Got it off a guy on HMT. It's has a 5 bolt discharge pattern and was off of a T-Bird. the .60/.48. I'm probably just going to look for a .63 housing or somethin.

 

If its a .48 exhaust housing then the one my friend has will probably work for you.. He cant use it so he would probably sell it pretty cheap.. I can take lots of pics of it if your interested..

 

You can try to weld the crack, but welding on cast material won't last you very long. I think the housing is pretty much junk.
