Default Turbo Honda's can't road race!!

I've been hearing comments for a while now that you can't road race a turbo Honda. I've heard the engine won't last. It will overheat. There is too much weight on the front of the car with a turbocharging system. I decided to see if I could prove these theories wrong at the Watkins Glen HPDE event on the 27th. Here's a video courtesy of Evan (Eluder200K):

http://cs.widener.edu/%7Eepane...h.mpg

Running the engine on 110 octane, installing a huge front mount oil cooler, running straight water with water wetter, and varying the spring rate and tire pressure allowed me to prove the theories wrong. The only thing that broke was...well, I'll let you watch the video to find out.

That video was awesome! One of the best I've seen in years. Usually I don't laugh, but it happened when I heard what your instructor said. Good stuff man, keep it coming.

Jeff, you forgot about the all motor guys whining about how you can't get traction with a turbo, and how the un-linear power curve of the turbocharger gives the car sluggest response, and won't be as smooth as a N/A car out of the corners.

COOL.

I love rolling around Watkins Glen.
Lime Rock is cool, but if you have power, the GLEN rules.

...Downloading now....

What kind of speeds were you hitting just before the bus stop?

...after watching....

The instructor wouldn't let me shift past 6500rpm. The car was getting too fast for the tires and the instructor was getting scared.

Switching to the gt3071 from my t3/t67 made a huge difference in the power band. There's a huge difference in throttle response (really boost response) which makes the car much more driveable in a motorsports condition. I'm considering stepping the turbo down to a gt28rs.

My dss stage 5 axles have a hub that is required to be installed into the knuckle to run the axles. I sheared the hub at the splines which then started to ruin the wheel bearing. DSS is getting a call from me tomorrow morning. I actually melted the wilwood caliper to the rotor from the excessive wheel play. I'm switching out the front brakes to Acura Legend rotors and calipers this week.

I was hitting speeds around 120-130mph towards the end of the day. No heel/toe yet. I'm learning the car and the power. I'll most likely be at Limerock in November.

Yeah, they were stock Honda wheel bearings.
