Help me break open my tranny casing....
Ok getting no help really in Tech forum so I thought I would try here
My outer tranny case part has a split/crack in it and it needs to be removed and taken to a welding shop for repairs (or just buy a new one). I have the tranny out and just laying in the floor and it is separated from the bell housing about 1". I know there is a plug on the end of the tranny where there is a snap ring that is holding the 2 together and I have gotten the snap ring to come apart. My problem is I forgot to take the ball bearing out and I dont know where that went and now it is stuck open at 1" and wont budge anymore. Someone please help me before i throw a s1 tranny in the woods outside. thanks

Try to pry it open with wood and a hammer. Wedge the wood between the bell housing and tap on the wood. Work around the housing in a circle pattern.
Just curious - is opening a B series tranny the same as openning a D series?
D series is like;
remove all the housing bolts
remove large plug (takes a socket drive)
-case will seperate a little
-I stick a large flathead between the housing and case to provide constant "opening" pressure
open snap ring until screwdriver falls out (it won't come out unless the snap ring REALLY comes off the bearing shell)
slide off case.

Do you guys think this case might not come off because I have forgotten to take the bearing/spring out? I have removed all the bolts from the casing and I dont see any signs of any bearings or springs and this tranny case been rolled around so many times with me wrestling it that it would have or should have fallen out by now. Exactly what gear am I trying to find for the case to slip off?
