need hlep 4th gen shift knob removal

The plastic chrome piece at the base on the **** is what connects the **** to the boot. This peice is a sort of clip. It is difficult to take off, but I was able to do it with the aid of a flathead screwdriver.

i used a pipe wrench to twist mine off once i got the boot off
