Type r's require too much power. Type s requires less, but you'll prolly want to go with something even less powerful. I am thinking the polk EX series.

Best suggestion, get an amp, and do nice speakers.

Infinity Kappas. They can handle 75 watts RMS and the tweeter swivels to be aimed upward towards the listeners. I like them.

Infinity is good , but you have to count the MBQuart the Boston 6.5 speakers in too.
MBQuart & Boston=
The MBQuart is kinda expensive thought.

could you people elaborate a little more on where to get these speakers at? I've heard good things about re and I've checked out their site but they have no prices anywhere. I'm in the same boat I just blew two of my Blaunkpunt speakers so I need some 6.5's. I want to spend like 250-300 max on these speakers.

The only thing I have to reference to is my buddy who had a GTI that had Pioneer Premiers. They sounded really nice. I'm gonna have 2 12' JL subs so I'm looking mainly for treb. Could someone help me out with something in that price range?

those arent even availible yet. so i doubt youve even heard them and can say they have "good bass and crisp highs" as what hes looking for...

plus, the RE "XXX" components would need alot more power then a HU can supply...

the RE "RE" components are much more applicable but hes still not going to get "good bass" without an amp...

but he may want something with metal tweeters sinces he wants "crisp highs"...

Found some SoundStorm 6.5s on Ebay today. Brand new- $40 including shipping. 700w max (175rms lots of power). Hard to pass up that kind of deal.

I just got a pair of Pioneer 4-ways. Ebay. (well actually 2-pair) The sound is alrigh t, they were used. But the company made a mistake and actually sent me two pairs. They haven't mentioned anything yet.

i would go with the alpine type s or maybe a phoenix gold octane 6.5. both good speakers, in your price range and will run off of a headunit.
