Default Painting cleartails tips

I have a 94 gsr, and recently my taillights have began to leak so ive decided to pick up a set of clear tails from a friend and paint em. would it be better to take them apart and paint on the inside or what? Does anyone have a link for instructions? Im thinking about just painting them all red and maybe or maybe not leaving the reverse clear. Any tips or suggestions on what i should do? Btw, my teg is milano red.
thanks

painting the inside would be unique, but it would still look clear.... I would paint the outside, and leave the reverse lights clear

I don't know why everyone stresses about painting the outside, i painted the outside of my alteezas and they came out pretty good. Just a couple coats of Krylon stained glass color from the hobby shop and a couple coats of clear from the auto shop. Looks good and durable. I've had it for about a month now with no problems. Oh yea, and it's probably a good idea to leave the reverse white, but i think you were gonna do that already.

Thanks, I got kinda tired of the seeing those alteezas everywhere, these will do until it gets played out too. Plus I've always got 95 stocks that I painted to look like 98+

so most people tend to paint the outside. If i can get the housing apart ok im gonna try to paint the inside maybe. but well see. If I paint them im gonna paint the whole tail light all red cuz m guessing its gonna be trouble painting both lights amd leaving the reverse clear.
thanks everyone

Did you do the same type of thing to turn the 95's into 98+ style tails? Im thinking of doing the same thing to mine...

ask and you shall receive....

I'm such a picture *****, ha ha ha. Anyways, it's still as red as before. The only thing that isn't legal is the fact that the reverse lights are red.

for the masking I just took some, thick masking tape and taped that I didn't want painted, for large areas i used plastic. In your case I think you don't want to paint the reverse but paint everything else. You got it easy all you gotta do is cover the reverse area with tape so you don't get paint on it, easy as that.

thanks, man, I usually get a lot of negative comments on it cuz it's not JDM or Mugen or stock or boring or etc, but it doesn't really phaze me, I love it, i think it looks tight.

Yea most definately, JDM is hella phat, it was just too expensive for me, I figured with this kit, I could have some originality and still be able to go performance in a few months after its payed off. Know what I mean.
