Default Shaking at idle

Hey guys, I tried seraching but didn't find the answer I needed.
I got around 98k miles on the car and it shakes hard at idle as if the engine is going to cut out. It does this when I'm sitting at a light, but when I'm driving, there is no apparent shaking. It does seem to rev higher than usual though. (Automatic Trans). I have no problems starting the car.
Can you guys give me some suggestions? I'm going to try the Chevron fuel injection cleaner this weekend and see if it helps.

Get an overall tune up and adjust your idle

I'm not sure what Accord you have, but for 90-97 years the 2.2L engine has an idle control valve (IACV) that controls idle speed. It can become blocked w/ oil/dirt restricting amount of air flow bypassing the throttle plate and causing the idle to go below ~800 rpm. When this happens, the engine will idle roughly.

Clean the IACV and inside of the throttle body around the throttle plate w/ throttle body cleaner. Avoid dousing the IACV coil w/ cleaner.

Only adjust the idle after cleaning the throttle body and IACV. There is an idle air bypass screw on top of the throttle body that can be adjusted w/ the IACV disabled. You need specs for your car, but it's usually 700+/- 50 rpm. The CEL will illuminate when you disconnect the IACV connection while engine is running. Reset by removing BACKUP fuse for 20 secs or so.

good luck

Thanks for the reply, I will check the IACV. Could bad spark plugs also cause the rough idle?

Yes, and it will be more obvious on 4 cyl engines it you have bad spark plugs than on the v6 engines.
