Viper, Compustar alarms
Before I go on with my topic, I would like to suggest that we have an ALARM/SECURITY FAQ as well. I was disappointed to not find any security info in the audio faq.
Okay, I'm interested in getting a pager alarm, specifically the Clifford Rsx 3.5 or viper equivalent. However, I've also heard good things about Compustar. I'm interested in the one with the special technology that makes the paging system work up to 6000 ft away.
What are some of the prices you guys have paid for these alarms? I've heard around 400 installed for the Clifford/Viper rsx3.5. What about that compustar one?

I got the Viper690 XV and Im pretty sure its the same as the Clifford rsx 3.5 or whatever, mine cost 450 installed, but that was after they added the power locks, and the hood pin, and the glass breakage sensor... The paging could be a lot better, like if youre in a building chances are its not going to page you... Ive heard the Compustar is a lot better, and I think its the same price, or maybe even cheaper.
yes there needs to be a car alarm faq somewhere wtih reviews and stuff. there's always some retard saying oh use the search button and not leave any kind of link. i've searched to all four pages of this thread and used the search function too and didnt find anyhting that was really that helpful on someone looking for a good alarm. maybe this thread will do it.
I currently have a compustar SS and I love it. The range is great as well as the paging system. The autostart also comes in handy during the winter when I want to give my car ample time to warm up.

535$ If you go up to Canada, I heard you can get it for much cheaper, like 300 installed (Canadian)

I would also consider AutoPage as a piggy-back system. I've had mine three years with no problems. The range works through a 2 story underground parking lot with the receiver on the third floor. That's about 2000 feet through 4 layers of concrete.
Range is very subjective with pagers. It's also practical to research higher frequency. Hope that helps.
