Default ecu code 0? what gives?

when i first turn the car on, the led on the ecu flashes for just 1/8 of a second or so. is this a code 0 fault? i changed ecu's and it does the same thing. i just got a code 1 out of the car today for the first time. once in a while going up hills slowly it stumbles for just a second and returns to normal. no hard starting but sometimes a high and wavery idle. i dont want to get stranded again by my car. thanks for all of the help. jim.

when u turn the car on it should blink once so you know the ecu is working, any blinks after that is trouble codes.
